Foundation marks 2012 New Year with announcement of 12 new Jupiter's Travellers

The Ted Simon Foundation is delighted to begin the New Year with the announcement that 12 more independent adventurers have been selected as Jupiter's Travellers. They join the 16 unveiled at the Foundation's launch on October 6th last year, and will benefit from mentoring relationships with the Foundation's Committee of Advisors. Read more

Launch Event A Great Success

Marking the 38th anniversary of the beginning of Jupiter's Travels on 6th October 1973, the official launch of The Ted Simon Foundation took place last Thursday evening at Coventry Transport Museum. The special event was attended by over 130 guests, some of whom had travelled from Ireland, France, the USA and even as far afield as Chile. Read more

Launch Event Ticket Sales Now Closed

Ticket sales for the Foundation's official launch event on 6th October have now closed. The event programme, including driving directions, recommended parking and details of the venue's facilities, will be emailed to all guests later today. Read more

Launch Event Auction of Unique Adventure Travel Memorabilia

Bidding is expected to be fierce for the headline lot in the Foundation's launch event auction of unique adventure travel memorabilia on 6th October. The irrepressible Austin Vince will be our auctioneer, and all the funds raised by the auction will support the future work of the Foundation and our Jupiter's Travellers. Read more

Jupiter's Travels - The Film

Not long before his 70th birthday in 2001, Ted Simon began a second round-the-world motorcycle journey with the aim of discovering how the world he experienced during Jupiter's Travels had changed since the '70s. The journey was chronicled in Ted's book, Dreaming of Jupiter, and the first part of the trip through Africa was filmed by Manfred Waffender. For the first time, we're very pleased to have a short trailer available online. Read more

Word Spreads at Horizons Unlimited

The Autumn UK Horizons Unlimited travellers' meeting was held in Somerset this weekend and co-founder Iain Harper gave a short presentation about the Foundation's aims and ethos. He was pleased to have the opportunity to answer questions about how the Committee of Advisors will support Jupiter's Travellers, how the application process works, and what guests can look forward to at the launch event in Coventry Transport Museum on 6th October.
