The Ted Simon Foundation was created by a group of people who believe that individuals of good will, moving among foreign cultures and making themselves vulnerable to the beliefs and customs of strangers, have great importance in promoting world understanding, and even more so when they can distill the essence of their experiences into a form that can be absorbed by many.
(Chairman) Covelo, CA
Ted Simon originally studied chemical engineering at Imperial College in London before moving to Paris and following a successful career in journalism, writing for the Sunday Times and various other newspapers and magazines.
Ted's books about his solo round-the-world journeys, Jupiter's Travels, Riding High and Dreaming of Jupiter, continue to serve as an inspiration to other travellers who seek to know the world, and their place in it, through personal adventure.
A digital marketing specialist for over 20 years, Iain co-ordinates all the Foundation's activities and provides event and marketing support to the overland adventure industry.
The idea for the Foundation was first suggested by Chris, who travelled across China by motorcycle in 2006. He has an MPA in Public Finance and now runs a successful motorcycle rental business.
