12 New Jupiter's Travellers Announced

In what has evolved into a bi-annual event, The Ted Simon Foundation is delighted to announce the selection of a dozen new Jupiter's Travellers from six countries. There are now a total of 132 Jupiter's Travellers, of whom 26 have produced a book or film about their journeys.

Brothers, Russell and Hamish Galt, along with their good friend, Steven Bland, have teamed-up to cycle from their native Cape Town in South Africa to Ethiopia during the course of a seven-month journey. Their aim is to investigate, document and promote innovative African solutions to sustainability challenges.

Andreas Juchii, from Denmark, is also a cyclist, but one who's putting an original twist on a pedal-powered trip. He's riding a bicycle based on a bamboo frame (made in Ghana) from Istanbul to China, around 10,000km along the network of routes known as the Silk Road.

The other eight new Jupiter's Travellers are all motorcyclists.

Michal Jezyna & Ania Zak, from Poland, will begin their round-the-world journey this Summer on a pair of Suzuki DR650s.

Nevil Stow, from Canada (via the UK), is a biker of long experience that includes a 19-country journey completed in 2013. In between working on promoting the 9 Minute Moto Film Festival, Nevil is planning an ambitious new journey that'll take him down the length of South America and perhaps beyond.

Medical Doctors, Matthew & Megan Snyman, also from South Africa, have recently completed their 'Great American Trek' from Argentina to the USA and are now about to begin their homeward-bound journey from North Africa.

Brent Carroll, from Virginia on the East coast of the USA, is days away from starting what he expects will be an 18-month journey around the world.

Meanwhile Bea Höbenreich & Helmut Koch, from Germany, have been travelling round the world since June 2011 on a pair of 25-year old Honda Transalps and show no signs on stopping anytime soon.

All the Foundation's motorcycling Jupiter's Travellers now have free and unlimited access to the Milestones service on Overland Junction. Michal, Ania, Nevil, Matthew, Megan, Brent, and Bea & Helmut will be receiving their membership details later today.

As always, our congratulations and admiration go to all the new Jupiter's Travellers and we wish them every success with their journeys and storytelling projects.
