Launch Event A Great SuccessMarking the 38th anniversary of the beginning of Jupiter's Travels on 6th October 1973, the official launch of The Ted Simon Foundation took place last Thursday evening at Coventry Transport Museum. The special event was attended by over 130 guests, some of whom had travelled from Ireland, France, the USA and even as far afield as Chile.
Iain Harper introduced the members of the Committee of Advisors and the first group of Jupiter's Travellers, Ted Simon talked about the value of adventure in broadening minds and challenging perceptions, and Erdem Yucel outlined some of the projects the Foundation has in development. The presentations were followed by an auction of unique adventure travel memorabilia, hosted by the hilarious Austin Vince, which raised a total of £2,000 for the Foundation.
Nine of the Jupiter's Travellers (pictured above) were among the audience, and Robert Wells set off on his adventure through the Americas earlier the same day.
